Random thoughts after re-watching Saga of Tanya the Evil episode 12
This note includes a spoiler.
I watched the Saga of Tanya the Evil season 1 episode 12. I watched this series a long time ago, and I liked it, but I forgot most of the story, so before the season 2, I decided to watch again.
This episode started from the previous end, that Tanya was sad that the Empire stopped defeating the navies of the Republic. She went to the strategy room, and wanted to talk to the General Zettour or other top brass. But they were out because they celebrated the armistice. She was disappointed and tried to leave the building but Rerugen found her and invited her to his office. He asked her to talk frankly, and she said something. I think she warned that the temporary short victory would backfire when the war would start. But he didn't understand why she thought the war would continue. And she explained to him that the Empire's strategists were too logical and smart, so they didn't account for people's emotional nature. That was a little bit surprise to me to hear because she was also a logical woman, but it made sense that her experience in this life and in the previous life made her think they were sometimes emotional. He was surprised and no word to that.
But then, Tanya was totally right. The Republic declared the war in the Southern continent in the next month, and Empire's citizens and soldiers were upset. Even people started feeling the war never ends. Well, for more than 10 years, definitely they would feel that way, especially lives didn't get better. Kurt and Zettour were also upset. I don't know what they thought and whether they remembered what Tanya had tried to do, but maybe they regretted it. Zettour's guess was completely correct that the other superpower would join the war and there were still 2 giant powers so I don't know what would happen to the story.
Because the location of the Republic's navy was in the different continent, the Empire couldn't move many of soldiers. And 203rd battalion went to the continent and the Tanya spoke in front of her battalion. Well, basically, she hated the Being X so much she demonstrated it in front of them.
On the other hand, Mary, the daughter of the Major in the Entente Alliance, went to the US and volunteered to join its military. Obviously, she was also possessed by the Being X, and this was going to be the boss in the season 2.
Anyhow, that was the end of the episode. The earlier parts, there were a few comedies but Tanya was good. The later episodes in this season focused mainly on the war and great to think. The audio for rifles, artillery, and tanks are good, and the animation didn't move much but sometimes moved well. I remembered this was great, and still this was good at this age.
Watched 2nd time. It totally made sense from Rerugen's point of view, Tanya looked a monster. She was like 10 years old, and she started saying a history and how she felt from her personal experiences for how people's nature was. And then her guess was right and the war continued. From his perspective, she was unimaginable and hard to believe, so totally made sense he believed she was a monster of a little girl form.
This episode was mostly an epilogue to the previous episodes and a prologue to the next season.
