Random thoughts after re-watching Saga of Tanya the Evil episode 9
This note includes a spoiler.
I watched the Saga of Tanya the Evil season 1 episode 9. I watched this series a long time ago, and I liked it, but I forgot most of the story, so before the season 2, I decided to watch again.
After the last episode, Tanya thought about the strategy in Arena City. And she thought she didn't get her hands dirty. I thought she was more of a criminal-minded person so it was unexpectedly different.
Then the HQ had a plan in the Rhine theater. They retreated from there, got the Republic to move forward into the Empire's domain, and then attacked them. That was risky, and they were very nervous.
So in the day, the 203rd battalion fought in the Rhine. And they tried to retreat, and Tanya disobeyed the order not to make retreat look deliberate from enemies at that time. Afterward, the Grantz and Visha were in a tent for injured, and it was a contrast that they were laughing each other while another patient was in a dire strait.
Then they've heard the grand strategy. And what they relied on was the invention from the crazy Engineer. Maybe that person was the one she was scared the most. And they needed to rely on the one-way experimental flying steel objects.
Tanya also shared the strategy to the 203rd battalion without hesitation. Weiss and even Grantz were worrying about themselves, because the success heavily relied on them. However, Visha had nerves of steel and slept right before that day and they relieved seeing her. How could she be so tough, or did she think Tanya was that dependable? And it's not even the soldiers in the battalion. Even Zettour and another top brass were even nervous during the dinner and it was silent. That was a kinda real and sure that proposal was a life or death one.
And in that day, they used the flying plane with a catapult. In the plane, Tanya was thinking how come she got the most dangerous place in the world even though she wanted to be in rear. Well, it was obvious that she was trying to be brave to Zettour and couldn't turn down his offer. It would've been different if she had been. But instead, she had thought it was by the Being X. Well, it could be partially true, though, without it, she didn't have the... What was its name? The Type 97? and couldn't win that many battles.
Anyway, this episode was more for preparation and the next one was going to be important.
Watched this episode on the 2nd time.
Tanya met Uger who she thought he dropped from the career ladder in a military in a few episodes ago. However, he became a Major and worked in a rear with Zettour. So apparently, he got a job exactly what Tanya wanted. She should learn from him and follow it, but somehow didn't follow and just talked.
In the Rhine, the 203rd battalion was fighting but the fight was rough. It was good that this was not like other Isekai anime, that MCs are very strong and can defeat enemies without any sufferings.
Visha and Grantz talked, and she knew he had something in his mind, so she thought he was suffering from what he did in the Arena City. So, she talked about what they learned in a school and said that was an order from Tanya and an actions' responsibility was from the commander. Well, Tanya was well aware about that, but she probably thought it was by the Commander's responsibility.
Also, Rerugen seemed not to be scared to Tanya and even tried to salute her. I thought he was a person who kept doubting her and would be an important role to make her fail. It looks it's not.
V-1's abilities to move surprisingly fast, just going straight, and only one way usage toward the death place sounded really familiar to me. It was because 86 had the same episodes, so stories with Sci-Fi or modern wars tend to have these inventions.
At the end, Tanya needed to write a letter because one soldier left her battalion. But she lost them because they ate a rotten potato. It was obvious in the Rhine theater, there was not enough food and soldiers were desperate.
