First thoughts after watching Re:Zero season 4 episode 7

I watched the Re:Zero season 4 episode 7. I remember the story for season 2 and 3 only a little, but don't remember the details of each character that much.

I was wondering what this subtitle was about, and this turned out to be an episode with a cliffhanger. At first, Subaru talked to Julius and Julius decided to watch over Echidna, or Foxidna. Then Subaru went back to a room with Emilia, Ram, Beako, Meili, and Shaula, and then planned to talk about the fight. But then he was hungry so they started having a meal. Apparently, Beako and Shaula don't need to eat food at all. Also Beako held Subaru's hand but she blushed because that was from her anxiety, and that childishness was so cute.

Then Subaru went to the green room and took over from Julius for watching over because of Rem, and also, Julius didn't know how to say to Anastasia because he lost to Reid. So he might have felt shame or disgrace, and he was insecure. But Subaru fell into a sleep and then woke up and somehow found a bird. The animation for this bird was like it glowed brightly, so I felt like it was a dream or magic, but it was just animation. He lost the bird but found the feather on the ground at a dead end and found a secret passage and went to a skydeck of the watchtower. Foxidna was there, and started talking with Subaru. He raised his eyebrows to her because she found this passage without saying anything to him, but she also was suspicious of him. She told him that Anastasia was actually trying to find some information about him but couldn't find any before a royal selection. This was a very natural reaction and I was able to imagine it, so this was a good plot. They almost resolved their suspicions, but Julius came to the skydeck too and found out about Foxidna so he knew Anastasia wasn't there since Priestella. Their talk was very rational, despite the fact that he wasn't the first person who knew about Foxidna while he was her first knight. And also, he didn't want to get rid of his first knight because that was the one remaining thing he had, after he became nameless and spirits didn't follow him. That was sad.

Then they left, and Subaru couldn't go back to the green room because Julius and Foxidna were there, so he went upstairs to find a way to fight against Reid. I guessed, he was trying to find a Reid book and try to find how to win.

But, the next scene was that he woke up at the green room, and I was wondering, what? why? King crimson? Then Emilia and Beako talked in front of him with Patrasche and worried about him, but what he was thinking was that they were total strangers and it looked like he was in another world. So that means, he faced Gluttony, and he lost his memories. And the episode ended.

So, what exactly was he trying to do? I thought he was trying to find the Reid's book, but instead, maybe he met Gluttony? Or did he find the book of them? But they were not dead, so there should not have been the book about them? Or he found a book and his memory was lost due to the books' experience? I don't know.

An interesting thing will be that Subaru may expose something that other people don't know because Foxidna or Julius were suspicious about him, but this was the best timing to know him. Also, what happens if he got Return by Death? Does he remember it? Or will he go back to the past but not remember anything? Maybe later, then he needs to figure out what happened. Either way, it seems a fun plot here to think.

Watched the 2nd time. When Shaula said she had waited for the sage for centuries — and that Subaru could too in the centuries ahead — it sounded a little bit sad and scary at the same time. I still cannot get what she really thinks, except her devotion.

Well, also, I shouldn't say this for any anime, but I wondered where they got the food in the watchtower, or how they cooked it. Emilia can use ice magic, but not heat. Who can bake or stew foods there?

In the scene between Foxidna and Julius, the reason why she said she used magic so desperately against Reid and hurt Anastasia was not to lose her asset under a circumstance that Reid could have killed him. It kinda makes sense. I think she was supposed to forget who he was, so she didn't really understand how important he was for Ana. But still, she was with her for a long time and she really loved Ana not to lose Ana. I still didn't get why Ana wanted to be a ruler in the Lugnica, so it will be shared in the following episodes, hopefully in this arc?

On the side of Julius, he was beaten a lot so far as I had thought, but it also hit me hard when he said he didn't want Foxidna or Subaru to think of him as not being worthy of a knight. He had high pride and wanted to accept every single thing that the first knight was supposed to be no matter how desperate his situation was.
