First thoughts after watching Re:Zero season 4 episode 5

I watched the Re:Zero season 4 episode 5. I remember the story for season 2 and 3 only a little, but don't remember the details of each character that much.

At first, Subaru was surprised to pass an exam on the 3rd floor in the Pleiades Watchtower. It was an answer which has no way to know from normal people, so he thinks the person who set it up is pure evil. Then they went to a library with a lot of books. But the books were unreadable, because when they were opened, the characters were moving. Those books were for the past people but that library was too big and not sorted very well. However, when Subaru opened one of books, then he experienced the life of that person. That book was for the Witch of Pride, Typhon. It's a little bit surprising that even Emilia or Beako didn't know the name of the Witch. Only the Witch of Envy was known in this world?

It was not only Subaru but also Julius experienced it. Then somehow Anastasia noticed the Shaula didn't share the rules of exams to them, and asked the rules. Anastasia thought there were 5 rules, but Shaula only answered 4 rules, which forced participants to go through exams until the end. One question they didn't answer was, who Shaula was? She lived for 400 years, and she wasn't a spirit at all, and she didn't even think a spirit is a trivial existence. Is she a mabeast? A demon? not sure. Shaula was very optimistic, positive, and reacted a lot so she might be fun character to see and write a script.

Meili also talked about her past a little bit and it seems she wasn't really interested in knowing her biological parents. She was raised by mabeasts because she had an ability to manipulate mabeasts since then.

Then somehow, Emilia found the next exam on the 2nd floor, which was not from 3rd floor but from a different floor. How did she notice from a hint that the person who set up the exam was terrible? Was she that smart? I don't remember any episode that she actually was keen to that.

Then the next exam was still in a white room, and there was only one sword standing on the ground like the master sword of the Legend of Zelda. Subaru pulled the sword and then, they moved the place, and another guy, who appears in the opening (OP), came up. Shaula was strongly scared of him, and his hair is red and long, and he is masculine. He said himself as a stick swinger, but I think he was Reid, who was an ancestor of Reinhard, who was the first Sword Saint. Shaula's attitude showed that obviously. Then Julius seemed to fight him as an exam on the next episode. I guess, they'll lose but then, not sure what happens. Let's see what will happen.

Also, the library was very good one as we can often see it in a fantasy world, but I wonder this was only one time thing. It wasn't sorted very well, so they may not find it useful, but hope it'll appear more and more. Maybe Subaru will return by death, try to find the past of each character, and learn them, and find weaknesses to win? Let's see.

Watched 2nd time. I don't get why and how Typhon became the witch. I mean, I understood what happened, but the magic ability was awaken suddenly? Then will this witch be important in this arc?

Also, when Julius was unable to respond to Anastasia after reading a book, she looked very concerned and serious. It was, well, natural, but it sounded like too much concern to me, considering she lost the memory of who he was, and also she was a fox. Maybe she was afraid something bad happened? Actually, in this arc, she is one of the main heroines, considering how short and shallow her involvement was in season 1 and 3 compared to Emilia and Crusch.

The BGMs were, also trying to match scenes, I guess. The scene for the Typhon's past seems like those in medieval to me, and also when they climbed the upstairs for the 2nd floor's exam room, it was a very bright and light sound.

Also, in the white room, the art style changed in a way that important lines are blue instead of black for almost all objects, except some 3d objects like the base stone of the sword. It probably tries to keep the lines from being too noticeable? I wonder what the purpose is.
