First thoughts after watching Re:Zero season 4 episode 3
I watched the Re:Zero season 4 episode 3. I remember the story for season 2 and 3 only a little, but don't remember the details of each character that much. At the last episode, Subaru and others fell down from the flower's fields. Subaru, Ram, Anastasia, and Patrasche arrived at the underground of the dune. He obviously saved Ram while falling down to the dune.
At first, he was anxious about Rem and lost his temper because if she is alone, she cannot do anything and be hurt. But Ram was chill and she tried to make him calm down. She also is worried about her, but I feel a little bit weird because Ram lost the memory of Rem. So she thinks Rem is important for her because of the fact that she is her sister? At least she got to the point that she reacted like she used to be before if there is a danger to Rem.
Then they started walking to the underground. And needed to choose 2 ways. Subaru was actually obsessed with Freud and always chose the right path because he had suggested. But then they got to the wall. Subaru thought it's a door but Ram and Anastasia thought it was just a wall. When he touched the door, then it disappeared. I was like, what the hell is going on? It obviously seals something, and Subaru has a weird power, maybe witch? or Sin Archbishop? so he was able to open it? But then, why did other two not recognize it as a door? Normal people didn't recognize it? Then after opening it, Patrasche reacted to it and warned us about the path after the wall. I thought there would be a strong mabeast there.
Then after that, Subaru opened the 2nd door, but then they got angry with each other while walking, lost taking care of others gradually. And then when they got to the 3rd wall, Subaru couldn't open the door. Why? Maybe he lost his miasma because he opened 2 doors already?
But at that point, they went nuts, and started killing each others. At first, Subaru and Ram. Then once Ram was killed by Anastasia, then he freaked out and was scared, so he overreacted. Then Anastasia was killed by Ram, probably. Then Patrasche killed Ram and then did him. The whole scene was insane and grotesque, especially the scene where Anastasia's lower body was cut and intestines were dropped.
Then he got back to the time when he woke up at the beginning of this scene. And sounded like these were caused by miasma. If there is a place with a strong miasma, and people are there for a long time, people lose their body and minds. Anyway, they went to the left path instead of right path on the cross road, and then Subaru was kind to others more and try to take a lead more. Others felt creepy about him because of that change. He compared to Julius but that behavior was natural for Julius but not Subaru.
Anyway, then went down, then Subaru went down to hall and there was a mabeast. It looks like Centaurs, half-horse man with spears instead of hands with weird head. Subaru went at first but then Ram jumped into them and tried to fight against it. At last, they couldn't win and she was trying to save him while the mabeast was attacking them, especially because of Rem. Both of them always says protecting and saving Rem in this episode.
But then, the woman who used lights came and killed the mabeast. Obviously, it's the same woman who shoot Subaru in the previous episode from the tower and then they saved her. Not sure what is her purpose and where she is, but it seems she is Shaula, the Sage.
I watched 2nd time. Actually, a music and the animation is great, as usual. The music after Subaru opened the wall sounds creepy and scary, as Re:Zero often does, and obviously show something goes wrong. Then when Subaru threw both lights out to somewhere when they were fighting, then the animation started showing only a dark blue animation. I still don't get what caused. It seemed Subaru was okay at first until he drank water, but then he lost the temper the fastest when the door wasn't opened. I thought he is resilient to miasma, but it seems it's not.
Also, he suddenly talked about miasma after this death, but I don't know why he thought it's because of miasma. Was there any symptom in this episode? Then they started fighting the centaurs' mabeast. It uses fires, and they noticed the smell of heat faster. Ram's El fula didn't damage it that much, but a new woman's attack hit a lot, so it clearly show how powerful this woman is.
