First thoughts after watching Re:Zero season 4 episode 2

I watched the Re:Zero season 4 episode 2. I remember the story for season 2 and 3 only a little, but don't remember the details of each character that much. This episode reminds me of Re:Zero and got me excited a little. Subaru and Emilia went to a pub and heard a rumor about the dune surrounding the Pleiades's tower. They said flying birds in the dune always go to the tower.

Then in the dune, there is a sandstorm. Stronger sandstorm than I thought, which makes even the tower harder to see. Then they left the sandstorm and arrived at the flower field. At this point, they went more than Reinhard could do. But then, there are bear Mabeasts in the field and many of them started chasing Subaru and others. Then, bang! Subaru's return by death started.

Until this return by death, all people joined in the group helped each other. Ram used Mabeast's eyes to find which way they should go by each Mabeast, Meili used a giant sandworm to remove hostile Mabeasts, and also tried to make the bear's Mabeasts go away in the flower fields. But the Joseph, Subaru's carriage's Mabeast, suddenly cried out and she failed to do so. Then of course, Emilia, Beako, and Julius attacked against Mabeasts attacking the carriage. I forgot, but surprisingly, Subaru can use more magic than he used to. Maybe I simply don't remember what he was able to do and learn during Season 3.

Why did the Joseph cry when the bears tried to leave them? Maybe they are afraid of them and want to eliminate instead of leaving? No idea if this is some kinds of important plots or just a random thing.

Anyway, after the return by death, Subaru was panic, which makes sense, and tried to avoid the death by going to a different direction on the 2nd time while fleeing from bears Mabeasts. But he noticed there was a light coming from the tower and crashed them and killed Joseph or Beako. Then on the 3rd try, he used his dark magic and prevented their Mabeast from crying out, and stayed in a place, but then the light still tried to attack Subaru. All of them, especially Julius, put that fall down and protected Subaru. We know he is strong since season 1, but shutting down the blazing-fast object by a sword was really good. Then Subaru used his magic to nullify the object but triggered breaking a barrier, and a hole opened beneath them and they fell down, and ended the episode.

By the way, Julius said Subaru was the one who knows him the most, but did he? Ignoring nameless thing, he is an elite knight and for sure he has more friends. Oh, but during the season 1, he said Subaru is his best friend, so kinda make sense. Considering that early, he might not have many friends in knights, or those knights were not alive, or he was promoted too early to Anastasia's knight and they left.

Watching 2nd time, I missed a lot about a few things. First, Julius stroked Joseph's chin on the early scene and he calmed them down, which helped Subaru to do the same on the later scene. Also, Julius lost an ability to use his spirits, so fights and putting the light down was by his physical ability only. Also, Emilia ordered hot milk in a desert in the day. Is there any background that she actually can protect from the heat because she can use ice magics? Then Ram's left eye was bleeding when the light was coming from the Tower, but why? She cannot use her ability because it's for mabeasts but not others, so by what?
